Rooms & timetable (under Teaching) has two screens: Rooms & labs (/campus/rooms), where you list the rooms at your campus, and Timetable (/campus/timetable), where you see the week and put each batch in a room. The class days and times themselves still come from each batch; the timetable only reads them.
Adding rooms and labs
Step 2: Fill it in
A name (for example Lab 2, first floor), the type, the places it seats and the equipment, separated by commas.
Step 3: Save
Rename a room later and every batch booked into it shows the new name as its venue.
- A room with batches booked into it cannot be deleted. Move its batches to another room first, or choose Mark not in use: the room is kept for the record but offered for no new booking.
- Two rooms at one campus cannot share a name.
Reading the week
The Timetable shows the week's classes from Monday to Sunday. Switch between By room and By teacher. Classes not yet in a room appear in a Not in a room row. Cancelled classes are left out; moved classes appear on their new day. On a phone the week is listed day by day.
The three clash warnings
| Warning | When it appears |
|---|---|
| Room double-booked | Two batches are in the same room and their classes overlap on the same day. |
| Teacher in two places | The same teacher teaches two of your batches at overlapping times on the same day. |
| Room too small | The room seats fewer people than the batch has seats. |
Clashes across all your current batches (not only the week on screen) are listed in red at the top of the Timetable, with the first day each one happens and how many class days it affects. Classes in the grid that clash have a red border.
Putting a batch in a room
Step 1: Find the batch
In Room bookings on the Timetable, pick the room for the batch and choose Save.
Step 2: No clash
The batch is booked and its venue changes to the room's name for students and on the NSDP website.
Step 3: A clash
A dialog lists every clash the booking would cause. Choose Choose another room, or Book anyway if you have checked them (for example, a shared lab used in turns).
Finding a free slot for a new batch
Under Find a free slot, pick the class days, the class length, the seats, the first day and how many weeks the batch runs (optionally a teacher). You get rooms with enough places and start times between 08:00 and 20:00 that are free on every one of those days, and free for the teacher too. Then add the batch from Batches → Add a batch.
Why is a class missing from the grid?
It has no start time yet, or it was cancelled. The batch's line in Room bookings says how many classes have no time.
Can a batch use two rooms?
No. One batch has one room; book the room it uses most and note the other in the venue on the batch's screen if needed.
