Some lessons check what you have learnt. A quiz is marked automatically the moment you submit it. An assignment is work you hand in (a written answer, a file or both) that your teacher reviews.

Your to-do list

  • Assignments & quizzes in the menu gathers the work waiting across all your courses. The same list is on your dashboard under To do.
  • Four figures at the top: To do, Assignments, Quizzes and Overdue.
  • Use the tabs All, Assignments, Quizzes and Overdue to filter. Overdue work is listed first and marked in red.
  • Each row shows the due date ("Due today", "in 3 days", or how many days late), the course, and Open or Start quiz, which takes you to the lesson where you do the work.
  • An assignment that is more than a week overdue drops off the list, but you can still open it from its lesson.
  • The work of your live Zoom classes and on-campus classes is on the same list. Those items open the class's classroom, where you hand them in under Assignments & quizzes.

Taking a quiz

  1. Step 1: Read the quiz card

It shows the number of Questions, the Pass mark (a percentage) and the Marks.

  2. Step 2: Choose Start quiz

The first question opens. You answer one question at a time, and your answers are kept on your device until you submit.

  3. Step 3: Answer each question

Move with Previous and Next. Use Bookmark to flag a question you want to come back to.

  4. Step 4: Choose Submit Quiz

The button works once every question has an answer; until then it says Answer all questions before submitting. The page button Submit Quiz to Continue does the same.

  5. Step 5: Read your result

Pass, and the lesson is marked complete and your course progress goes up.

Question types

TypeHow to answerHow it's marked
Multiple choice (one answer)Pick one option (A, B, C…).Right or wrong.
Multiple choice (several answers)The question says Select N answers that apply. Tick every correct option.Correct only when you pick exactly the right set; order doesn't matter.
True / falsePick one.Right or wrong.
Short answerType into Type your answer here...Must match one of the accepted answers. Capital letters don't matter.

Your result, reviewing and trying again

  • The result says Congratulations! when you pass, or Keep Learning! when you don't, with "You scored X out of Y marks (Z%)".
  • Passing is decided on your exact score, so 69.6% does not pass a 70% quiz.
  • Review Answers shows each question as Correct or Needs review, your answer, the correct answer and any explanation.
  • Try Again starts a fresh attempt. There is no limit on attempts.
  • Each question is worth the marks the teacher set (1 by default).

Submitting an assignment

  1. Step 1: Read the brief

The assignment shows its title, description, Due date, Total marks, Passing marks and the submission instructions.

  2. Step 2: Write your answer

Type in Written answer, if the assignment accepts text.

  3. Step 3: Attach your file

Use Choose file under Attach assignment file, if the assignment accepts files. Remove takes a file off before you submit.

  4. Step 4: Choose Submit assignment

You see Assignment submitted and a Submitted box with the time it was received.

  5. Step 5: Continue

Submitting completes the lesson and your course progress goes up. Choose Mark Complete & Continue (or Next) to move on.

Fields on this form

Written answer
Your typed answer. Some assignments are file-only and don't show this box.
Attach assignment file
Some assignments are text-only and don't show this. The teacher sets how many files you may attach (one unless they allow more), the largest file size (shown as Up to N MB per file) and may restrict the file types; the file picker only offers the allowed types.
  • You must send at least an answer or a file. A written answer can be up to 10,000 characters; for anything longer, attach it as a file.
  • You can still submit after the due date; the submission is recorded as late.
  • Submitting again replaces your earlier submission and removes any grade it had, so the teacher reviews it again. The box says Submitting again will replace this submission.
  • When the teacher has marked it, the box changes to Graded with Marks awarded and any Teacher feedback.
  • The grade doesn't block your progress: submitting completes the lesson, whatever the grade.

Assignment status

  • SubmittedYour work has been received and is waiting for the teacher.

FAQ

Is there a time limit on quizzes?

No. The time you take is recorded, but it never fails or ends your attempt.

How many times can I retake a quiz?

As many times as you need. Each attempt is marked separately; passing once completes the lesson.

Can I change my assignment after submitting?

Yes, submit it again. The new submission replaces the old one and any grade is cleared until the teacher reviews it again.

Does a low assignment grade stop me finishing the course?

No. Completing the lesson needs a submission, not a particular grade.

My quiz answers disappeared.

Answers are kept only in the same browser tab. Opening the quiz in a new tab or another device starts from the beginning.
