Self-paced courses are made of sections and lessons. Choosing a course anywhere in the portal opens its course page first, with the outline and your progress. From there you go into the course player to study the lessons.
The course page
- The green area at the top shows the course name, its level, when you joined, your next lesson and your progress as a ring. Resume opens the player at that lesson. The white button at the top left takes you back to your courses.
- Three figures sit under it: Lessons done, Sections done and Open now (how many lessons you can use right now).
- The outline lists every section with a number and its state: Completed, Up next or Not started. Choose a section to see its lessons. Finished lessons have a green tick, and the lesson you are due to take has its own Resume button.
- A lesson that is a live Zoom class is marked with the blue Zoom icon.
- Beside the outline: Announcements from your instructor, the Certificate card with how far you are, and Taught by with your instructor.
Finding your way in the player
- The left side shows the course name, your progress and two tabs: Curriculum and Certificate.
- Curriculum lists the sections and their lessons. Finished lessons have a green tick; a lesson that isn't open yet says Not open yet or After the previous lesson. Use Search lessons to find one by its title.
- Certificate shows your progress as a ring and what is left to do. When the course is complete and it awards a certificate, this is where you open it.
- The bar above the lesson has the lesson's title, Discussions, Previous and the main button that moves you on.
- Under the lesson are two tabs: Discussion forum, where you ask about the lesson, and Announcements from your instructor.
- Back to course at the top left returns to the course page.
- Opening another lesson shows a short loading screen while it is fetched; a quiz has its own.
Lesson types
| Type | What you see | Counts as complete when |
|---|---|---|
| Video | A video player that remembers your position. | You have watched about 80% of it, or reached the end. |
| Text | Written content, sometimes with images. | You open it. |
| Web page (HTML) | A formatted page or embedded content. | You open it. |
| The document in the page, with Open PDF in a new tab. | You open it. | |
| Audio | An audio player. | You open it. |
| Live class | The class time, time zone and a Join class button. Before the link is added: This class link is not ready yet. | Mark it complete with the continue button after the class. |
| Quiz | A quiz you start, answer and submit. | You pass it. See Quizzes and assignments. |
| Assignment | Instructions and a form to submit your work. | You submit your work, then continue. See Quizzes and assignments. |
Watching videos
- Playback resumes where you left off, even on another device.
- Around 80% watched, the lesson is marked complete by itself. Skipping the credits is fine.
- If a video stalls, the player explains what went wrong and offers Retry. Slow connections play better on Wi-Fi.
Downloading lesson resources
Lessons can carry files (worksheets, slides, source files). They are listed under Resources with their type and size. Download opens the file in a new tab. If you must finish the previous lesson first, the files show Locked until you do.
Moving to the next lesson
Previous goes back one lesson. The main button beside it changes with what you still need to do:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Mark Complete & Continue | Marks this lesson complete and opens the next available one. |
| Submit Quiz to Continue | Shown on a quiz you haven't passed. It submits your answers (or points you to the first unanswered question). |
| Continue to Next Lesson | This lesson is already complete; go to the next one. |
| Continue Learning | You're on the last available lesson. |
| Processing... | Your progress is being saved. Wait a moment. |
When a lesson or section is locked
A locked lesson shows This lesson is still locked with the date it opens and the time left, or Kindly complete your previous lesson to view this lesson. A locked section shows a Module notice with its expected availability. Why content opens on a schedule is explained in Course progress and the unlock (drip) schedule.

FAQ
Can I watch lessons again after completing them?
Yes. Completed lessons stay open, even if the course has a release schedule.
Can I skip ahead?
Only if the course allows it. Some courses open sections on dates or require you to finish lessons in order.
The Discussions button is greyed out.
The lesson discussion is only available on video lessons. See Asking questions on lessons.
Does the course work on my phone?
Yes. The player adapts to small screens: the lesson fills the screen and the curriculum opens from the button at the top.
I opened a course and landed on its page, not on a lesson.
That is how it works now: a course card opens the course page first. Choose Resume there (or any open lesson) to go into the player.
